The TTA has joined up with Sporting Pulse to update the way membership details are administered. Tasmanian associations have been each given a copy of the new Sportzware software needed to implement the new system. It is hoped the new system will be up and running by mid year. The STTTA Inc have successfully moved their members to the new system. This will be held at the Kingston Centre on Sat 5 July. Philip Boyle, Jenny Langridge and Andrew Moore will be coming over from Victoria. Callan Wisby, Andrew Castaldi, Dylan Smith and Aidan Cutlan will be spearheading the local contigent. There should not be too many non friction long pimpled rubbers as they will not be ITTF approved from 1 July 2008. Maureen Sherman 16th Life Member Congratulations to Maureen Sherman on being elected as the 16th Life Member of the Tasmanian Table Tennis Association at the AGM held at Campbell Town on 16 February 2008.
Interested in helping Junior Table Tennis Nominations are called for the new voluntary position of 'Director of Junior Development' of the Tasmanian Table Tennis Association (TTTA). This is a new position which would suit a person with an interest in the development of junior table tennis in Tasmania - it is an administrative role and as such does not require coaching or officiating experience, although this would be useful. For a summary of his background, CLICK HERE. This event was held by the NSTTL at the YMCA Glenorchy on Saturday 20 October. Paul Pinkewich won the Mens Singles from Victorian Craig Carter. Pinkewich also won the Veterans Singles defeating Brian Berry.
BURNIE win State League from Northern Suburbs. Burnie won a closely contested State League at the Country Club Casino over weekend 9-10 June. The team captained by David Nettleton and spearheaded by Callan Wisby, Dylan Smith and veterans Denis Armstrong & Brian Evans along with "Shanty" and Gary Smith were on tenderhooks right up to the final minutes however with Callan Wisby winning over Michael Colbourn and 'Shanty' holding Andrew Howell at bay, they were assured of victory on the points table.
