New link with Sporting Pulse

The TTA has joined up with Sporting Pulse to update the way membership details are administered. Tasmanian associations have been each given a copy of the new Sportzware software needed to implement the new system. It is hoped the new system will be up and running by mid year. The STTTA Inc have successfully moved their members to the new system. Any enquiries should be directed to Doug McLean.

Interested in helping Junior Table Tennis

Nominations are called for the new voluntary position of 'Director of Junior Development' of the Tasmanian Table Tennis Association (TTTA).

This is a new position which would suit a person with an interest in the development of junior table tennis in Tasmania - it is an administrative role and as such does not require coaching or officiating experience, although this would be useful.

For further details and a no-obligation discussion contact David Nettleton ph:64363183 or Geoff Long ph:6234 1456(BH) 6234 2693(AH).

2009 World Masters Games:

Their website says:

No other multi-sport event in the world attracts as many participants as the World Masters Games. Since 1985 the Games have brought together mature aged sports men and women from around the globe who share a commitment to the simple philosophy of "sport for life".

"Masters" is simply an age designation; it does not denote a level of proficiency or a particular achievement.  To compete, all you need to do is to satisfy the age criteria for your sport. The World Masters Games are for you.

The World Masters Games have been held on six previous occasions:

Toronto 1985
Copenhagen 1989
Brisbane 1994
Portland 1998
Melbourne 2002
Edmonton 2005

The seventh Games will be held in Australia's global city, Sydney, from 10 - 18 October 2009.

BURNIE win State League from Northern Suburbs.

Burnie won a closely contested State League at the Country Club Casino over weekend 9-10 June. The team captained by David Nettleton and spearheaded by Callan Wisby, Dylan Smith and veterans Denis Armstrong & Brian Evans along with "Shanty" and Gary Smith were on tenderhooks right up to the final minutes however with Callan Wisby winning over Michael Colbourn and 'Shanty' holding Andrew Howell at bay, they were assured of victory on the points table. Last year in a similar situation Burnie lost to the Southern team.

If you have broadband connection you can watch TV broadcasts of table tennis via the ITTF website. Click on the itTV icon.
